This ONNSFA organization accepts applications who apply for the Navajo Nation Scholarship, and this scholarship program mainly occurs twice a year – once for the fall/spring academic year and again for the winter/spring terms.

To qualify for the Navajo Nation Scholarship, you must be enrolled members of the Navajo Nation, high school seniors, or undergraduate/graduate students enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university. The scholarship award amounts may vary based on available funding each year. In 2022, ONNSFA awarded over $24 million scholarships to around 6,000 Navajo students.

What are the requirements for a Navajo Nation scholarship

To acquire the Navajo Nation Scholarship 2024, the candidate must be:

  • Enrollment: The candidates willing to get this scholarship must be enrolled members of the Navajo Nation.
  • Academic Standing: Require to maintain GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent on a 5.0 scale).

3. CHIEF MANUELITO SCHOLARSHIP

  • High School Graduate or Full-time undergraduate students are eligible
  • Required a minimum ACT composite score in combination with a minimum cumulative GPA
  • Need to qualify the Rosetta Stone Navajo Language Exam with more than 85% or better
  • Award: $7000/year
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0

4. Navajo Tribal Utility Authority Scholarship (NTUA)

The Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA) is providing scholarship opportunities for the 2024-2025 academic year to support Native American students in their educational dreams. NTUA mainly focuses on providing electricity and other utilities to residents of the Navajo Nation and understands the importance of access to education. 

The NTUA is accepting the scholarship for a degree or Masters degree in the field of:

  • Electrical
  • Civil
  • Environmental
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science and Informatics

Their scholarship program is now open for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 applications. NTUA is awarding $200,000/year in scholarships to deserving students. The minimum eligibility requirements include:

  • Maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

5. Navajo Nation Chapter House Scholarship

The Navajo Nation Chapter House Scholarship program is a great scholarship program that provides financial assistance to qualifying Native American students from the Navajo Nation. However, this Navajo Nation Chapter House Scholarship is not available on the official website of the ONNFA because this scholarship program is administered by individual Navajo Nation chapters rather than the ONNFA. Each chapter has its eligibility criteria, application process, and award amounts. 

To be eligible for the Navajo Nation Chapter House Scholarship, students must be:

  • A Navajo Nation member
  • A high school graduate or equivalent
  • Full-time undergraduate degree program from a recognized college or university
  • Maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Demonstrating financial need
  • Committed to community service
  • Award: $500-$2000 per year
